1889 Seawanhaka Corinthian Yacht Club Oyster Bay NY Sterling Trophy Plate 7.5ozt

Description

We are pleased to present an antique SCYC sterling trophy plate, 8.25" diameter, 7.5-troy ounces in weight. The high details are very worn and hard to read, but it says "Special Prize Presented By Mrs. A. Cass Canfield During the S.C.Y.C. Squadron Cruise 1889" around the rim and "Marblehead July 15, 1889 / Won by Cutter Minerva" on the lower portion of the plate. The plate shows the yacht Sea Fox with a SCYC burgee and ship's wheel blow. The back is marked Whiting Sterling. The plate shows some tarnish and is in good condition, but – again – there's a lot of wear to the high points and the high point details are hard to make out. Please see pics.
