Linn LK1 Preamplifier (parts and repair) Read Description. Condition is "For parts or not working".
Here is the rundown on this preamplifier I recently obtained. It was missing the power cord and ALL rear attachment cables. The power cord is a generic three prong type that was easy to get, however I was unable to find the correct rear attachment cables. Today I went to our local electronic store and bought the cables and adapters on the last picture. Upon hooking this up to a power amp, I was only getting sound in “mono”. Balance did not work on the preamp and when I disconnected one RCA cable from the “AUX” setting ..sound was still coming from both speakers. It sounded good this way, but obviously not “correct”. In addition, when I was trying to adjust the volume control on the preamp, on each press of the button, it was making a click noise . I am not sure if this is correct or not? Also, though the music sounded good ..I was hearing a slight “hiss” through the speakers when all was quiet. Not sure if this is because of the incorrect attachments and cables or not?
Frankly, I do not like this preamp and do not want to mess with this further. I do not want to spend extra money on the correct attachment cables and I do not like the fact that this has no tone controls. Passing this along to whoever can figure this out and/or repair this. This is not working properly and no returns accepted . Please be aware of this before possibly purchasing .
Note: The cables and attachments in the last picture are NOT INCLUDED. I am going to return those to the electronics store and get my money back. The power cord IS INCLUDED.
