Description
Here's the inscription:1968 NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP O-MOK-SEE
HELENA, MONTANA
1ST PONY EXPRESS
In doing research, I found out that it comes from the National Saddle Clubs Association's annual O-Mok-See (pattern horse racing show, or rodeo), of which the very first one took place in 1966. So this trophy comes from only the 3rd ever show sponsored by the NSCA!
Special Features:
Real wood (oak?)
Metal horse topper and trim
Fine marble base, made in Italy
Manufactured by Billings Trophy Mfg, Inc. in Billings, Montana (stamped on bottom)
About 17 3/4" high x 11 3/4" wide x 5 1/2" deep
Flaws: Lots of them! But it's the historical value that's important, in my opinion.
Paint splatter all over
Nicks, scratches, and stains all over
The blue plastic insert has tape and a crease near the bottom
One of the felt pads is missing from the bottom
