    Description

    Vintage Vega
    19-fret
Tenor Banjo with Og. Case and 2 strings
This banjo was donated to our store by the family of its original owner. Not sure of the name of the model as well as no indication of any date.
It displays the Vega star on the head. Not sure what happened on the head (there seems to be a trace of something) if there was any plaque/lettering or sticker or if it was originally bare and damaged later on.
After doing some research online, I was able to open the resonator (I even learned new words!) to see the serial number. I am adding pictures directly to this description.
    The inside is engraved with:
The Vega company. Boston Massachusetts. Style N.
    Serial number 92207
Plus stamped in black ink: "the Vega Co, Boston Mass. USA"
We are not sure that the flower embellishment on the back were original or added later on (there is no relief, if they were added on they were probably varnished over as we cannot feel any rise).
The banjo is missing some strings (one is broken but still attached). The name Cole was written in black (sharpie?) on the resonator and behind the head.
It is overall in good condition with general signs of age and use.
It is lightly scuffed in some places but no cracks or splits are visible.
We offer as much detail as we can provide with our minimal knowledge and are trying to be forthcoming with any noted issues the instruments may have. Please ask questions if more details are needed.
The case is in poor condition (scuffed and peeling in some places) yet still has functioning latches and hinges and is sturdy enough to protect the instrument. The red lining inside is in better shape than the outside.
Two extra steel strings (hand made, one tenor banjo C or 4th-wound, and one tenor banjo G or 3rd-wound) by Gibson, were inside the case.
It has a white leather strap with a shoulder pad from C.Bruno and Sons in good condition.
It weighs 11.13 with the case and accessories.
Pictures are of the actual item you will receive.
We work hard to include a lot of pictures for each item and do our best to describe the items and their conditions to the best of our capabilities. Please review the photos for all the details as they are part of the description.
All our items are available for in person inspection in our store in Los Gatos, CA if it can be arranged.
    No international sales.
100% of sales is for a charitable donation. All sales are final, non refundable.
Due to its size, weight and fragility we are listing it as a local pick-up. We are nevertheless
willing to take it to UPS/FEDEX for shipping at buyer's expense. Because of its large size and fragile nature I will have to either buy a box and packaging materials or have UPS package it (with or without insurance) at buyers' discretion.
I think communication is key for this special item, and I am willing to put in the time to ensure everything goes smoothly.
